Personal data we collect and why we collect it
Care Market is a service of Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC). All items in the Care Market store are free. This website can be viewed by anyone, but only current clients of WIRC’s Care Market program can purchase items from this store.
As a part of working with your WIRC case worker, we collect your personally identifiable information when you fill out our application forms and other related documentation. This data will be retained by the Agency to serve you and provide service data to or funder, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). We will not sell your information.
When you use the website, data will be collected about the types of products you are purchasing through Care Market and will be included in your file. This information helps your case worker to better serve you in your current situation, and it helps us keep track of and update our inventory of products.
Usage statistics
Information about your IP address, browser, number of visits, device type, access dates and times, and other related information may be collected by us so we can view usage statistics and analyze trends. This information will be used to improve the website and service, and will only be seen and shared with website administrators and employees who need to know the information to provide services.
This information may be collected through the use of “cookies”, which are text files that are placed on your device by the website’s server. You can delete these cookies by going to the settings of your chosen Internet browser (for example, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, and so on).
If you are concerned about your privacy, you may want to research Internet browsers such as DuckDuckGo. Note: WIRC does not endorse nor is the Agency sponsored by the suggested browser. It is up to you, the user, to determine the best method for you to access the Internet.
Confidentiality
Your privacy is important to us. We follow strict confidentiality rules, professional standards, and processes at WIRC. We provide access to your personal information only to those employees and website administrators who need to know the information to provide you with services.
We will not acknowledge, confirm, or deny that you are receiving our services, unless the following exceptions are made:
(1) We are given permission directly by you to say so when you complete a Release of Information form;
(2) We are compelled to disclose as required by law (for example, in response to a court order);
(3) We need to protect the rights or property of the Agency;
(4) We need to take measures to protect the safety of users, customers, clients, employees, partners, or members of the public.
