Welcome to Care Market! This website is a social service program offered by Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC), a nonprofit, to eligible residents of Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough and Warren counties in western Illinois.
Care Market offers hygiene items (soap, toothbrushes, and so on) to people in need who cannot afford to buy these items on their own. All of the items in this “store” are free.
There are no cookie-cutter solutions here at WIRC. Instead of giving everyone the same items, we want our customers to be empowered to choose the items they need.
How is Care Market funded?
Funding for Care Market is provided by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity through the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). All of the items provided are purchased with CSBG grant funds and by monetary donations made directly to the Care Market program.
I would like to donate to Care Market. How can I help?
First of all, thank you! Donors like you truly do make a positive difference in people’s lives.
You can help by making a monetary donation either through our Care Market donation page or by mailing a check to the following address: WIRC, 133 West Jackson Street, Macomb, IL 61455, memo line: Care Market.
We cannot accept donated hygiene items unless you are donating 100 or more of exactly the same item. This is because of the time and labor involved in adding items to our store website and inventory system. By giving a monetary donation, your dollars will have a stronger impact by giving WIRC the power to purchase hygiene items most needed by Care Market customers at that time.
What if I have other questions?
If you have other questions about Care Market or programs offered by WIRC, schedule a meeting with Jamie Roth, WIRC Community Services & Public Relations Director.
